Jimdo's 2012 ASBDC Conference Blog

Being a part of the ASBDC Conference for the first time this year was an amazing experience. We learned so much, shared so much, and met so many wonderful people. We hope to see and work with you all in the near future!

Orlando is a 4-time State Star honoree. I'm convinced next year he'll have his own conference, and Jimdo wants to be there.

The streets of the French Quarter were still getting their daily bath as I made my way to the Hilton this morning. According to the clock on the front of the hotel, I may have been about 5 minutes late. Oops!

First of all, thank you to everyone who stopped by the Jimdo booth tonight! We met and talked with so many amazing people, and we couldn't be happier! We'll be adding more photos to the gallery above throughout the night, so check back if you don't see yourself yet. And if you didn't get your picture taken today, stop by tomorrow and say hi! Did I mention that we've got chocolate? Hand sanitizer? Cat videos!?

We were thrilled to meet Maria from the Puerto Rico SBTDC, because while the title of this post may be the extent of my Spanish, we have a team in our San Francisco office dedicated to supporting all of our current and future Spanish speaking users.

Heidi Sheppard, Advisor for Technology Collaborations with the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, MD was the first person to stop by the Jimdo booth tonight. We don't officially open for another 40 minutes, but Heidi had ulterior motives: Chocolate! 

That's right, Jimdo is serving up decadent chocolates from the likes of Dove and Ghirardelli. Come and get it!

Rhonda Abrams is kind of a big deal. Obviously. So there was no question we had to attend her session on the latest in marketing tools for small businesses.

Kim Dushinski kept it real in her session on Mobile Marketing Strategies with some fun mobile demonstrations, like texting Chuck Norris to 44636.

She also made it clear that a mobile presence for your small business is NOT optional. Her Mobile Marketing Checklist is a great starting point.

Small Business Mobile Musts: 1) Get listed in local mobile business directories (Google Places, Yelp, etc.). 2) Have a functional mobile version of your website. 3) Format your email newsletters for mobile.

We couldn't agree more! All Jimdo websites have mobile versions built-in. It's super simple.

Ms. Dushinski obviously practices what she preaches, as you can see from the sleek mobile version of her website above.

Our attempt to crash the exclusive State Star soiree hosted by Constant Contact was foiled, but the lovely ladies above were kind enough to let us pose for pictures in front of their photo backdrop. It was a perfect shade of (almost) Jimdo blue! Thanks, Andrea Cucchiara and Jillian Ninteau!

We put Brent Gummow(e), Multi-talento and Apparent-Expert Navigator, in charge of getting the Jimdo team to Office Depot for a last-minute supply acquisition. After all, his specialty is his ability to specialize in everything. Unfortunately, as we've come to find out, his vision could use some work. It's Poydras Street, not "Polydory", Brent. :-)

Jimdo has landed in New Orleans and it seems the word is already spreading. Just down the street from our Airbnb.com apartment rental on Conti Street, a Pages to the People sticker was spotted in the wild.

After a night of wandering the streets in the French Quarter (looking for Monday Night Football), tasting the local fare, and sampling the beignet from Cafe du Monde at midnight, Brent, Powen, and I have checked in at the ASBDC conference. We'll be hanging out until Friday afternoon, so keep an eye out for us. We're the three nerds wearing black t-shirts with prints of the sticker in the picture above on the front. Pages to the People!

Powen, Brent, and I will be blogging from the 2012 ASBDC Conference in New Orleans. We can't wait to meet everyone, so stop by our booth at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside and say hi between September 11th and 14th. 

We will also be presenting SmallBizRocket in Exposition Center A on Thursday, September 13th from 4:00 - 5:30PM.
